Update on Grant Process

Hi everyone! It's time for another guest blogger. I'm Ed Follis, one of the members of the Board of Directors for KCIF. Part of my responsibilities this year have been to help in the creation of a grant process. It is a way for KCIF to give back to the Irish Community of Kansas City by providing grants for cultural events in our community. Danny made the initial announcement about the grant process back in March. Well, we are getting closer to the time when applications can be submitted. This is a good time to provide you with some more information in case you are considering submitting a grant application.

It is our goal to have an on-line application on our KCIF Website by early July. Applications will be accepted until Mid-October. Then comes the fun part. Our Grant Advisory Board gets to review the applications and give out some cultural grants. We plan on having all of the grants awarded by the end of the year. What are we going to use as a guide as we review the grant applications? Check out the About Us page of the KCIF Website to find out. The About Us page shows what KCIF is committed to. We will use those commitments as our guide to review your grant application. As in any application process, there are some restrictions. We'll let you know on the application what type of requests will not be considered because they don't match up with our goals for awarding grants. Also, make sure you review the application carefully before submitting your grant request. You don't want to be automatically excluded just because you forgot to answer a question or two.

Please keep in mind that as we begin this process the available funds we have to give out are modest, but we hope they will grow over time. As Danny mentioned in March, there will be two levels of grant requests. Individuals will be able to apply for grants up to $1500, while 501C3 organizations can apply for grants up to $3500.

July is quickly approaching. Keep an eye on our website for more information as we get closer to opening the application process. At KCIF we are very excited to begin this grant process. It is truly one of our ways of saying thanks for all of the help and support we received from the Irish Community in Kansas City!
