My buddy Laren Mahoney at the Kansas City Convention & Visitors Association informs us of something new on that fine organization’s Visit KC website. It’s the KC Visitors' Choice Awards. Visitors to our city (local votes won’t be counted) vote for their favorite businesses and attractions in 19 different categories, from Favorite Barbecue Restaurant to Best Midwestern Hospitality. Voting runs until May 1. In preliminary balloting to determine finalists for each category, your humble Irish Fest landed in the top six in the Special Events/Festivals category. And that was before you had a chance to vote! We’re going straight to the top now, baby! And as if making me happy wasn't incentive enough to participate, all qualified voters will be registered to win a vacation package to the Great Wolf Lodge with that crazy huge indoor water park.
Voting is open now. Just go to Visit KC, click on the Visitors' Choice Awards link and vote for us, number 15 on your ballot, number 1 in your hearts.
