Froze

My house faces North. So, while my neighbors across the street have brown grass on their lawns, I have ice and snow. I know it's still cold over there, but it looks warmer. I look past my tundra toward the sunny South-facers and imagine Spring.

I know it's coming. Because it's right there on my calendar, the most important day of the coming thaw season: April 1st. Volunteer registration for Irish Fest begins.

So while you do your daydreaming about green grass, sunshine that does more than make the ice shiny, and hanging up the parka, add this to your "think-about" list: where do you want to volunteer?

Maybe you're a veteran. You've been selling T-shirts since day one. You can tell a large from an extra large by touch. Or maybe you've been a site host so long, you carry strangers up random flights of stairs. You know your place. But maybe you're just now ready to take the plunge. You wanted to wait to see if this Irish Fest thing was really going to take off. You maybe had a fear of commitment. Hey, I've been there.

But we're here. And we're staying. And we need you. Time to take that leap and join us. Over the next few weeks, I'll be giving you job descriptions and helpful information to assist you as you decide which team to join. There are some new options this year, too. The volunteer sign up form will be live, on our web site on April 1st.

So stay warm. Think sun. And if your house has Southern exposure and you see a strange man lying in your dead grass, come out and say hi.
