T'was the week before Christmas and all through the town
The people were tired, stressed out and run down.
Way too much shopping and family and baking.
A nervous breakdown was fast in the making.
They needed a break for craic agus ceol.
Sure music and pints are good for the soul.
They need to escape from the maddening crowds
And pull up a stool at the bar in O'Dowd's.
For it's Wednesday and here that means only one thing
It's time to go down and hear Delahunt sing.
From Dublin's fair city to the banks of Brush Creek
A session with Eddie can save Christmas week.
Get out of the house and away from Aunt Betty.
Say you're just off to Mass. Then head down to Eddie.
He'll soothe all your holiday worry and doubt
Helped along if you choose by a pint of good stout.
So fire up the sleigh! To O'Dowd's in a flash!
But please don't bring Aunt Betty. She has a moustache.
