I cannot believe how this festival has grown! The lineup was awesome! We had dinner there last night and the place was packed all evening long.
Thanks, Dan, and to all of you folk who work so hard on this all year! It is an outstanding event!
Dan, just wanted to take a moment of time & space to offer up an apology. I know how hard the volunteers work here at the fest, as I have been on that side of the wall and speak from experience.
It was initially a negative run in with a throng of people on Saturday who seemed to be unable to read the signs that staff had posted on the upper stage area sidewalk about stopping or blocking the walkway.
That incident was reported to a site representative (yellow shirt)
who did nothing about the problem.
On Sunday, again there was a huge gathering of people who just stopped dead cold on the sidewalk without reguards to the posted no loitering signs affixed on the gates and ground.
This directly affected the movement of people (myself included) inside the main stage section of bleachers where nobody could get in & nobody could get out. A conversation between me and my girlfriend had directly pointed out the poor egress of the stage and the very real potential of an emergency taking place would be impossible to respond to.
This and, to condense things "being fed up" with rude people, I became one of them with one of the staffers.
The gentleman was clearly doing his job by closing a hole in the fence people had created by the main stage. He just happened to close it on me, after all things had transpired.
I would like to say that I was under the influence of good Irish Beer and a Bad Irish temper, but only the latter is true.
I didn't see the individuals nametag, but wished that I had as I would like to have apologized and even spoke to him in a civil manner after the festivities.
Since I am unable to identify him, I would like to offer my apologies via blog and "hope" that he should per chance see this and conclude that my anger was not with him just a many varied circumstance and an inability to do anything about it.
Sincerest regrets & apologies Sir.
And in conclusion, perhaps some better planning allowing ingress/egress for people and Emergency Services in the event of a situation.
