More Radio News

I sat down last night in this very chair on this very butt to work on some Irish Fest stuff, and what do I find in my e-mail box but a note from Máirtín De Cógáin of the Fuchsia Band. He was reporting from the road with a link to a live radio appearance in Minnesota, where the band is headlining the Minnesota Irish Fair this weekend. As luck would have it the show was commencing that very minute, and with a couple clicks there were the lads.

The wonders of live streaming aside, and the fact that played a set of tunes that they've called "Regan's Reels" off their new CD, here's what I thought was great about this: the host/DJ guy asked Máirtín about how since the band is on their second tour of America now, they must have heard some great bands and players, and who were some that they were especially impressed with. Now keep in mind that these boys have played with some heavy hitters.

Know who they mentioned?

Eddie Delahunt and his bodhran player Gabriel Reyes, and Kevin Kiley's band Something For the House.

I loved it.

If you missed that, there's another chance to catch the band as they take revenge on the Vikings by continuing to conquer America's Northern reaches. They will be live on TV, on a show called Channel 2 Almanac, 7:00pm on Friday (tomorrow). You can watched the taped, live show...which of course means it won't be live anymore, at http://tpt.org/almanac/ after it's over. And taped. And put up on the web site. When you go to that link, you'll see what I mean.
