There has been a sighting of Mairtin ( and Mitra ) at the Cannes Film Festival walking the red carpet with the cast and the production team of the movie "The Wind That Shakes The Barley".
The movie was filmed in Cork and Mairtin plays the character named "Sean" and the film is in close running for the top honors at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival.
The "Mairtin sighting" is on the OFFICIAL Cannes Film Festival site and it is an online movie clip of the cast and production team of "The Wind That Shakes The Barley" walking the famous "red carpet" for the first official screening of the film at the Cannes Film Festival.

Highlight the First menu choice at top of page that says
"Selection" and then pick "Competition/Out of Competition"
menu choice.
That will bring you to the list of all films in competition at...

On the LEFT SIDE of the official "Wind That Shakes The Barley" page is a section entitled "Clips".
Click on the link that says "Steps - The Wind That Shakes The Barley".
The "Steps" are the offical staircase at the end of the red carpet that leads into the main Cannes Film Festival Theatre.
The clip is of the entire entourage for "Wind That Shakes The Barley" walking the famous Cannes red carpet into the Theatre for the official first screening of the film.

Both of the 'low' resolution links worked fine but only the "Real Video" high resolution link seems to work ( for me, anyway ).
WHERE YOU CAN SEE MAIRTIN ( AND MITRA )...
When the movie clip plays... wait until about halfway through when a French reporter stops Director Ken Loach on the red carpet and they exchange greetings. "Good evening, Ken Loach, etc...".
Directly over Ken Loach's left shoulder ( on the right of the screen ) you will see a clean-shaven Mairtin in Tuxedo standing next to Mitra who is wearing a vibrant green gown.
When Ken Loach says "It's the story of how Ireland gained it's independence, or partial independence..." Mairtin and Mitra are
clearly seen over Ken's left shoulder talking with each other and talking with the crowd along the red carpet.
Also... if you look closely, at the beginning of the video clip, you will see Mairtin and Mitra walking with the cast on the right side of the screen, near the back of the entourage.
HINT: When the video clip first appears it will be in a small window. Double-click the title bar of the window and it will change to FULL-SCREEN and a much larger display.

Hoi Dan!... Thanks for posting the "Mairtin sighting" info! There is something wrong with the "Shortcut" link the way it came out in your BLOG, but it does go to the right "Wind That Shakes the Barley" page and all you have to do then is click on the "Steps" video link on the left side of the page. Then you get the actual list of videos from the Cannes red carpet "Steps".
I think I fixed the direct link...seems to work for me anyway now.
Yep... works fine now in all the top name browsers. You could probably just delete all that "long way to get there" stuff at this point and just leave the shortcut and the hints about where to spot Mairtin and Mitra in the video. That was all probably pretty confusing, anyway.
