The Lieutenant Of Inishmore

One more highlight of the New York trip, if I'm not boring you. Saturday afternoon we saw Martin McDonagh's The Lieutenant Of Inishmore at the Lyceum Theater. The play is part of McDonagh's trilogy of Aran Island plays, which also include The Cripple of Inishmaan and The Banshees of Inisheer. The story of...well, brained cats, splinter groups, one-eyed heifers, The IRA, murderous nutcases so crazy the IRA wouldn't have them, doomed love, shot cats, buried cats, "galavantin'" cats, and according to one review, 5 gallons of stage blood, The Lieutenant Of Inishmore is worth a trip East all by itself. My description aside, this is about the funniest thing I've ever seen.

If you're heading that way, buy tickets now.
