Fiesta

I know it's only Monday, but as you plan your week I want to encourage you to include a visit this weekend to the Fiesta in The Heartland, our sister festival at Crown Center. For one thing, it will be your first chance to see Irish Fest's home in the newly remodeled Crown Center Square. For two things, it's free. For three things, they have the great accordionist Flaco Jimenez playing on Saturday night.

If you don't know Jimenez, you should. He's a Tejano music legend, having won five grammys over the course of a career in which he's played with people like Dwight Yoakam, Buck Owens, Ry Cooder, Linda Ronstadt, Emmy Lou Harris, Los Lobos, The Mavericks, John Hiatt, Bryan Ferry, The Clash, The Rolling Stones, Carlos Santana, Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan,Ray Benson, Asleep at The Wheel, Alan Jackson, and even The Chieftains. Come see him and all the great entertainment they have planned, and support ethnic music in KC.

Crown Center has become the center of ethnic festivals in Kansas City, hosting 4 major events this summer including Irish Fest. Don't miss any of them, beginning with the Fiesta, opening this coming Friday (Cinco de Mayo) at 5:00 PM and running through Sunday.
