Children for Peace in Ireland

Did you miss the Elders at The Celtic Block Party on Sunday because you couldn't tear yourself away from the backyard barbecue? Well, you're in luck.

In what's being billed as a "mini Irish Fest", Children for Peace in Ireland, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting peace in Ireland through the education and inspiration of Irish children of all walks of life and denominations presents a benefit concert featuring Kansas City Irish Fest performers The Elders and Bob Reeder, plus Rob Gavin & Flannigan's Right Hook.

For over seven years, the CFP has been bringing teenagers from Northern Ireland to Kansas City to learn about tolerance and trust. The teenagers are hosted by local families with kids of similar age, which provides the Kansas City teenagers with a unique perspective on life in a different country, while enhancing their understanding of the challenges facing Ireland and its children.

The show is Saturday, June 3, outdoors under the tent (if that's not a contradiction) at W.J. McBride's (the original, in Overland Park) at 4:00 P.M. Admission is $10 and tickets are available at McBride's, Sheehan's Irish Imports and Doherty & Sullivan Irish Goods.

More details are to found at the organization's website, www.childrenforpeaceinIreland.com
