Out With The Old

It's the last day of the old year as you know and you're just 5 hours away from the big countdown to 2014...in Ireland. Or here in Cowtown if you know where to go.

Kelly's for example. KC's preeminent Irish bar for more than half a century, Kelly's will ring in the new year at 6:00 PM with all the usual fanfare, countdown, champagne toast and broken infant resolutions. Irish Fest alums Flanigan's Right Hook will provide the tunes. Be there, do that and be home safely abed when the rest of the city start careening down the streets. Kelly's is right where you left it, at the corner of Westport and Penn.

O'Dowd's Little Dublin will also be ringing in '14 on Erin time with music by Mr. Irish Fest himself, Eddie Delahunt and Friends. They're at 4742 Penn down on the hoity-toity Country Club Plaza. Their early bird party is 4:30 to 8:30.

A new player this year in the Irish New Year game, Irish Fest sponsors Blue Grotto will pop the cork at 6:00 as well. That party starts at 5:00 and will be hosted by our old friend Fintan Molloy of Co. Kildare, the father of Irish New Year celebrations in our town. Find Blue Grotto in beautiful downtown Brookside, 6324 Brookside Plaza.

Llywellan's will present KCIF regulars The $3 Band from from 4:00 - 7:00, with the usual bubbly at 6:00. They're at 6995 West 151st ST in OPKS, for you of a Southern persuasion.
