Altared States

Very exciting news here at KCIF HQ today.

The Holy See has informed us that newly minted Pope Francis has accepted our invitation to preside over Mass from the Miller Lite Stage at Irish Fest this year.

As you no doubt have heard, Pope Francis' maternal grandmother, the late Nora Cooney, was born in Fermanagh and he has long been interested in his Irish roots. His Holiness, or "Frankie" as he's still known to his cousins in Derrygonnelly, is expected to arrive in Kansas City some time on Saturday afternoon of Irish Fest weekend so that he has time to hear some music and have a pint in The Snug on Saturday night.

If this weren't April Fool's day, I would believe this.

Please don't be an April Fool's joke! I'd be very disappointed.

Yes, Carl, it was an April Fool's Day joke. Pope Francis isn't coming to Irish Fest and he doesn't have an Irish granny from Fermanagh.
