Whoa. Seriously? A band announcement in November? For 2013??
Yeah. You know why? Because the Kansas City Irish Fest Entertainment Committee rocks and rocks hard, that's why. You know what those slackers from the Irish Fest Beverage Committee have been doing since Irish Fest '12 closed? Drinking, probably. The Contest Committee? Sitting on their contests, taking it easy. Site Host Committee? Nowhere in site. But The EC? No way. The EC works, son.
So, yeah, we got a band announcement. And SO excited about this one.
We Banjo 3.
We saw this four piece (yeah, go figure) band from the west of Ireland in Milwaukee last summer and they were the breakout band of the festival. I went to three of their shows that weekend and each one got bigger as the buzz spread. Now, I know what you might be thinking. Three (or four) guys, all playing banjos? Is that really something the world needs? Well, first of all, yes it is but second of all, that isn't what We Banjo 3 is all about.
Yes, three members of the two sets of Scahill and Howley brothers who make up the four guys who comprise We Banjo 3 play tenor* banjo. Also fiddle. Mandolin. Guitar. Bodhran. Vocals. Multiple All Ireland championships. And they do it all with a virtuosity, mastery and joy seldom seen. You will love this band.
We Banjo 3 and their Kansas City Debut, only 275 days! I can almost smell the kettle corn.
Here's a sample from one of the Milwaukee shows. Enjoy.
* The 17 or 19 fret 4 string tenor banjo is most often used in Irish music, as opposed to the longer necked 5 string variety common to Bluegrass music.

This is the best news I've ever heard!
What a great start! I can't wait to find out who else is going to be there. I love to dream about KC Irish Fest during the cold Iowa winters.
You are correct, sir Danny...we WILL love this band! As good as their video is, it doesn't compare to their live shows! So energetic, talented and just FUN!!!
