Contests 3.0

Kontest Kweens Kami 'n Kim want to remind you that the Lucky Loo and The Perfect 10 Weekend aren't the only contests going on at Irish Fest. Why you'll be so busy winning stuff you won't have time to hear any music...

3.1 Brewing: Scottish and Irish Ales
Enter your home-brewed Scottish or Irish ale in this year’s brewing contest, using the Beer Judging Certification Program (BJCP) guidelines for category #9 beers. Check out the all the style details here. The contest is free to enter, just amateurs only please. Properly-labeled entries will be accepted up until 4 p.m. at Bacchus & Barleycorn, THIS SATURDAY, August 18.

3.2 Baking: Made with Spuds
Whether its potato bread or potato candy, dust off your best recipe for mouth-watering goodies made with SPUDS (please, no yams or sweet potatoes)! Maximum two entries per person, per day. The contest is free to enter and is open to all ages, just amateurs only please. There will be great prizes, including gift certificates to Pryde’s Old Westport, for first, second, and third place winners on both Saturday and Sunday, and a grand prize winner will be chosen from the highest-scoring daily first-place winners. HINT: if I were you I'd enter on Sunday; we always seem to have fewer entries on Sundays—your chances of winning are better.

3.3 Knitting: Celtic Knots
Back by popular demand, there will again be two contests—one for novices only on Saturday, and one for masters on Sunday! If you teach knitting or crocheting, have won a prize in this contest, or judged this contest in the past, you’re eligible for the master’s category. Maximum two entries per person, per day. The contests are free to enter and is open to all ages. Great prizes, including gift certificates to Yarn Shop and More for first, second, and third place winners on both Saturday and Sunday.

3.4 Photography: Rainbows
Enter your best rainbow photo in this year’s photography contest. Maximum two entries per person, per day. The contest is free to enter and is open to all ages, just amateurs only please.
