Labhair an teanga Gaeilge liom

Is fearr Gaeilge briste ná Béarla cliste! Tár agus foghlaim Gaeilge le Brían ó hAirt, an múinteoir is fearr sa domhan!*

Were able to read that? If someone spoke those words to you , would you have the faintest idea what they were saying? Would you know if you should slap them? Laugh? Blush?

If you answered no to those questions, you need to be at the upcoming Irish Language And Culture Immersion Weekend at the Irish Center in Union Station. Check it out:

The language portion of the weekend includes playing “Tea with Grandpa” in Irish Gaelic. Each play session is 2 hours long. These sessions are beneficial for beginning Irish speakers and advanced Irish speakers alike. The weekend will also include workshops on using online resources, using the dictionary, learning Irish dance through the language, and how the Irish Government plans to promote the language in its newly published 20 year plan. All workshops are taught by world-renowned teacher Brían Ó hAirt, an award-winning sean-nós singer, sean-nós dance teacher, fluent speaker of Connemara Irish, and member of the acclaimed band Bua. Brían will bring a little bit of Galway right here to Kansas City!

Date: June 29 thru July 1 (intro and social on Friday, workshops Saturday and Sunday).

It seems the KCirishfest website is only updated on the home page. What's New is all 2011 and there is now music schedule. Just saying.

Hey, at least we're up to date here!

I'll pass your comment on to the proper authorities, Major. Thanks for keeping us on our toes.

Great to see an interest in An Ghaeilge abroad! I've stuck up a few Irish Gaelic songs on my blog if you're interested. It's a great and fun way to pick up a but of Irish. Beir bua agus beannacht! (Good luck and blessing)
