Your Friday

Tomorrow is Friday and it marks the start of the first weekend of the St. Patrick's Day season, as declared by...well, by me, I guess. Why not?

So here's your plan for kicking off the holiday season in style this Friday night. First, you gotta eat, right? So head over to Redemptorist parish at Linwood and Broadway for the first of the Ancient Order of Hibernians' annual Lenten shrimp boils. Only $12 for adults, $6 for children and maximum family price of $36 gets you all you can eat shrimp, cheese pizza, corn, green beans, cole slaw, taters and bread. Coffee, tea and lemonade are included, beer, wine, pop and desserts will be available, too.  Dinner will be served this Friday and every Friday in Lent except Good Friday, 5:30 - 7:30PM .

When your belly is full of shrimp and praties, head just a few blocks north down the hill to Union Station and the Irish Center of Kansas City. There you'll find the 3rd installment of the Irish WinterFest raging from 6:30 to 9:00 PM. This week featuring music by the great Kelly Band. Just $5 gets you in, the preteen kids are free. Guinness, Boulevard products, wine, soft drinks and Roasterie coffee will be available. The whole shebang is brought to you through the great generosity of our friends at Kissick Construction Company and The Roasterie, assisted by Central States Beverage and The Boulevard Brewing Company.

After 9:00, head to Westport and the venerable Kelly's Westport Inn where Flannigan's Right Hook will be providing the tunes, beginning at 10:00. After that you're on your own, Paddy. I can't make all your decisions for you.  If I could I sure wouldn't have picked out that shirt, I'll tell you that.

See you tomorrow!
