See, that was such a fun-filled Irish weekend it's taken me until Tuesday to get back to the computer.
Bloomsday at the Irish Center was great fun. I had to get my 15-month-old date Kathleen home for her 8:00 PM bed time so I missed the play, but I heard it was the best performance ever. What we did see–music from The $3 Band, an informative discussion of Ulysses by a leaned professor, and great food, drink and craic with some great friends–was fantastic. Congratulations to Tom and Nancy Shawver at Bloomsday and everybody at the Irish Center for another great event.
Saturday at Browne's was great, as the predicted thunderstorms detoured and kept us all dry and happy. Loads of you fine people signed up to volunteer at the KC Irish Fest, for which we are eternally grateful. The music, the atmosphere, the families, the friends...the Irish Street Faire has become a can't-miss party for the Irish community and their friends in Kansas City. Add to that all the money collected for Children's Mercy Hospital and Clinics and you've got something special. Well done, John, Kerry and crew!
The Kansas City Gaelic football club came up just short in the Midwest Gaelic Classic on Saturday, but by all accounts our lads played well and fiercely it was a great day on the pitch anyway. And now that we're rested and looking forward, the 9th annual Kansas City Irish Fest opens in just 73 days.
Happy first day of summer everybody!
