So yesterday we were talking about sunshine and goats and stages and hot cockles and other signs that spring is here. Here's one more sure sign: the KCUR pledge drive.
This coming Sunday, as usual during Fiona Ritchie's Thistle and Shamrock program, a cadre of Irish Festers including little old me will be on the air asking you to support KCUR FM 89.3 and give back just a little to a radio station that does so much for your Irish Fest every year. If you're in Kansas City, tune in and hear not only the best in Celtic music, but also some of the biggest knuckleheads to ever take to the airways. If you're elsewhere, listen online at www.kcur.org. Either way, listen and then call or log in to make your pledge and show the world, or at least the portion of the world who's listening, that you love Irish Fest and Irish music. No amount is too small...or too large for that matter, and pledging takes just seconds. Best of all, we'll read your name on the air along with a message if you choose. Just imagine...
"Here's a generous pledge from Mike O'Reilly, who says he's a long time Irish Fest volunteer. He'd like everybody to know that he thinks that one girl who was selling Irish Fest raffle tickets last year on Sunday between 1:00 and 5:00 PM was a hottie."
"I have a pledge here from Kate McGillycuddy, who is an Irish Fest raffle volunteer and would like Mike O'Reilly to know that the restraining order is still in effect. Oh, and she says she loves A Prairie Home Companion. But not Mike O'Reilly."
Well, maybe things would work out better for you. So be sure to listen, pledge and make us very happy.
