Band Announcement, 3/1

It's March 1st! Let's "march" into our "1st" band announcement of the coming 17. Ha! See what I did there?

When we were in Ireland last fall we saw a lot of music. A LOT of music. All of it was good. Some of it was very good. Some of it was astoundingly good. One of them really stood out as the total package. And they're coming to Kansas City. If you miss this, it's over between us.

Goitse, (say gwi-cha) is Donegal Irish for "Come here." If I was writing the dictionary definition though it would be "a collection of some of the most talented, exciting, engaging, innovative and appealing young traditional musicians that have come out of Ireland in many years."

The band blew us all away in Ireland with their rare combination of musicianship and showmanship. All come from the student body of Traditional Music and Dance School at the University of Limerick, though they come from as far afield as Portlaoise, Laois, Dublin, and Philadelphia. In spite of their tender years, they're serious about their craft but light, funny and engaging on stage. And these kids can flat out play. Until you can see them here in person, here's a couple samples to tide you over.
