The Return Of Happy Birthday

Long time readers will recall that I used to do regular happy birthday wishes here at Tir na Blog for members of our board and staff. But I stopped. I stopped not because I don't sincerely wish each and every one of our Irish Fest family the happiest birthday imaginable. I do. But with a board of 9 and a staff of something approaching 50, I was always missing somebody's big day and that's not fair and really, how many times can you say the same nice things about somebody? So I stopped. Exceptions, however, will be made from time to time. Like this week.

Somebody very near and dear to the hearts of all Irish Festers has a milestone birthday this week: Boulevard Beer. Our hometown beer and Irish Fest sponsor since day one is turning 21 this week, old enough at last to finally drink itself. There are celebrations going on all over Cowtown this week in honor of the big day, none bigger than the one at Raglan Road, home of Irish Fest's after-parties.

Wednesday night there'll be birthday cake at 8:00, a toast at 10:00, live music until 11:00, trivia and raffle prizes hourly, and most importantly the official tapping of Boulevard's special 21st Anniversary Fresh Hopped Pale Ale. Who would want to miss all that? So grab your party hat and head downtown for the biggest 21st birthday party since your own. Raglan Road is at the corner of 14th Street and Grand.

I had some of the anniversary beer yesterday while watching the Chiefs lose miserably. Very very tasty. Almost took the sting out of losing.

Will you be there Uncle Bloggy?

I hope to be. I'm going to a 21st birthday party for the brewery at the brewery early and then have to go to a school thing for one of my offspring. It wouldn't be until 9:00 before I could get there. Probably miss all the cake, dammit.

Shall I save you a piece of cake?
