Okay, I said we were going to start our Halloween Gaelic Storm ticket giveaway contest next week and so we are. But I want to give you a little heads up on some prep work you might want to do, in advance like.
One: familiarize yourself with that ancient Irish poetic form, the haiku. Remember those from school? A haiku is three lines, the first one containing 5 syllables, the second 7, the third 5 again. For example:
Why can't we just have
A simple contest, like rock,
paper and scissors?
Or...
Regan and his dumb
contests. Just give me the damn
tickets already.
Got it? 5/7/5. Easy.
The second thing you should know is, don't suck. Because our special celebrity judge for this (and another non-haiku) contest is none other than Patrick Murphy himself, lead singer of Gaelic Storm. He's written actual songs and everything, so he knows what he's doing.
Having said all that–what is your Irish haiku supposed to be about? What's the non-haiku contest? What do you win? Who should you bribe? The answers to those questions are: you'll find out next week, you'll find out next week, a pair of tickets to the big Gaelic Storm show in KC on October 28th at the beautiful Uptown Theater and some Irish Fest stuff, and, me.
Is it just me or does Patrick Murphy + Frankenstein = Quentin Tarantino?
