In The Grotto

I bet you know somebody who's never been to the Kansas City Irish Fest. Some poor ignorant soul who thinks that all they'd hear on our stages is a be-tweeded potato head singing "Danny Boy" and "When Irish Eyes are Smiling" or endless repetitions of "The Irish Washerwoman" played on the holy trinity of annoying instruments, accordion, banjo and bagpipe.

Well, I want you to reach out to those misguided people today and tell them that The Guggenheim Grotto is playing the KC festival this year. Tell them that this band has gotten press like this:

“With debts to both Radiohead and The Beatles, this is modern, intelligent, lyrically potent pop” – Boston Herald

“…what the first Crosby, Stills & Nash album might have sounded like if all its members were from Dublin.” – San Diego Union Tribune

“…emotionally rich songs performed without irony or jaded modernism” – Nashville Scene

“…a spine tingling effect that I haven’t experienced since I heard Simon & Garfunkel’s Bookends album for the first time” – Irish Voice

And that they sound like this:

So tell those people who don't think they like "Irish" music, they need to take another look, come to the Kansas City Irish Fest and find out they maybe, just maybe they actually do.

Of all the bands we have coming to KCIF this year, GG is the one I look most forward to seeing.
