I know that it being St. Patrick's Day season and all, you've probably been listening to a lot of Celtic music, and perhaps it wasn't all good. There was a radio station here in town that started calling itself "The Leprechaun" and was playing non-stop crappy Irish music for the holiday week. It sounded like they'd picked up the two CD "Paddy O'Earbleed's Irish Songs For Drinking and Puking" set at Walmart and set it on repeat. I haven't checked today, but I pray to God they've stopped.
But there is good Irish music on the radio, and it's on there every Sunday. The Thistle and Shamrock airs here between 1:00 and 2:00 Sunday afternoons on KCUR FM, 89.3. You should listen every week, but mostly you should listen this week. Because this week, Irish Fest VP Barney Walsh, Fest contest queen Cami Travis-Groves and old Uncle Bloggy will be on the show as part of KCUR's spring pledge drive. And you are cordially invited to join us. During that hour, call in and make your pledge, one dollar or a thousand to support public radio. We'll read your name on the air and thank you embarrassingly effusively. We do this on-air pitching twice a year because KCUR is an important media partner of ours at Irish Fest, so when you make your pledge you help us too.
Call 816-235-5287 during that hour on Sunday, or pledge online at www.kcur.org.And we thank you.
