New Contest!

Those women over at the Kansas City Irish Fest contest committee, they never rest. They never cease their efforts to improve our annual competitions. Be ye a baker, a knitter, a brewer, a picture taker, a writer, they've had you covered over the years. I of course, being of modest and rapidly diminishing talents, can do none of those things. So I'm especially excited about today's announcement of a brand new contest:

“CELTIC PRIDE IN COWTOWN” COW ART CONTEST
Do you have an artistic flair? Do you love the Irish Fest cow? Make your best cow in any media (don’t forget the all-important shamrock spot or spots) in 2D or 3D and bring it to the Kansas City Irish Fest! Entries must be 11x14” or smaller if two-dimensional art, and 12x12x12” or smaller if three-dimensional art. The contest is free to enter and open to all ages, just amateurs only please. Limit two entries per person. Bring your family-friendly artistic creation to the contest tent between 5–6 p.m., Friday, September 3. Prizes for first, second and third place will be awarded Friday by 6:30 p.m. First prize is two Friday Snug Membership Passes, second prize is a $35 KCIF merchandise certificate, third prize is a $20 KCIF merchandise certificate.

Download the official rules and entry forms here.

As a professional artist myself (no, I'm not kidding), I can't enter but I will be one of the judges. Details on acceptable bribes will be forthcoming. So get to work, Picasso! Show us your bovine best and you and your date might be spending Friday night at Irish Fest in the Snug, with your free beer, your free swag, and your bad selves. Good luck!
