Friday. What's that mean, kids?
BAND ANNOUNCEMENT! Yay! I wish I had some kind of band announcement theme music that I could have play automatically right here. Pretend I do. You hear it? Okay, now we're to the drum roll part. And...
McPeake.
We hosted the annual conference of Irish Festival directors here in Kansas City last spring and as part of that event we presented two nights of musical showcases. One of the bands that played there had just flown in form Belfast that afternoon after long flight delays. They were exhausted. They were wrecked. They hadn't slept or eaten. And they blew us all away. They were McPeake, a band grown from the seeds of one of Ireland's legendary musical families. They gave an absolutely amazing performance and then spent a good deal of the rest of the evening apologizing for it. Apologizing! For a show that drew a standing O from a crowd of festival planners who've heard more bands, good and bad, than you could shake a shillelagh at. I can only imagine what we're in for when they're here well rested in September.
Read more about this talented young band here. And listen to them here:
