Here's my morning routine: I get up, trudge out through the snow to get the paper, and turn to the weather page to see the next five days forecast. I'm looking for some sunshine, some mid to high 40's maybe...some tiny sign of of spring in my future. Today the next five high temps I see predicted are 29, 35, 37, 32 and 32 degrees with clouds on 4 out of 5 and snow on 2. So I'm doing another early week band announcement. It makes me think warm thoughts.
Today I'm happy to announce a pair of friends to many of us here at KCIF and outstanding entertainers to anybody who's been lucky enough to hear them play.
Evans and Doherty.
Kevin Evans and Brian Doherty, Irish by way of Canada or perhaps Canadian by way of Ireland, bring the rich musical traditions of both places to the stage with them. This is intimate, living room, house party music and Kevin and Brian make you part of it as if you were on stage with them. You'll be laughing your arse off one minute, fist-pumping fired up the next and wiping a tear away later. I absolutely guarantee you'll be singing along.
True story: when we were planning our new performance stage, it was with these guys in mind. It's long overdue, but we're so glad they're finally going to join us at the KC Irish Fest this year. And now with a warm Irish Fest breeze blowing, the morning doesn't seem to cold. 199 days to go.
