Celtic Crime Watch

If you frequent Llywelyn's Pub in the southern suburbs, you may have been robbed and not even realize it:
KC Star- Llywelyn’s Pub and its customers are the victims of a cyber credit card attack, Overland Park police said Wednesday.

Overland Park police encourage anyone who has used a credit card at Llywelyn’s Pub within the last six months to monitor their statements for fraudulent expenses.

Police Spokesman Jim Weaver said that more than 100 victims have been identified so far, and they believe others could have been victimized as well.

Police began receiving several credit card fraud complaints on Oct. 21. Investigators quickly deduced that all of the victims had done business with the bar and grill near 151st Street and Metcalf Avenue.

Investigators believe the crimes were the result of a hacker, who managed to gain access to the information between the time of sale and the point at which the information reached the credit card processing company.

Investigators do not believe the credit card processing company was to blame. They have also ruled out any wrongdoing by Llywelyn’s employees.

“It was not an employee. The credit card data was compromised from the point of sale between there and their credit card processing company,” Weaver said.

The credit card information has been used illegally in various states, but mostly southern states, Weaver said.

Police are urging patrons of the bar and grill to review their credit card statements for unauthorized purchases. If such expenses turn up, call the Overland Park Police Department at 913-327-6855.
