I was greeted by all kinds of Irish Fest coverage in the morning paper when I dragged myself out of bed today. An interview with Ardal O'Hanlon, a story on Fionan O'Connell, a photo gallery featuring the ghosts of Irish Fests past, an interview with our E.D. Keli Wenzel...great stuff all around.
And there on the cover of the Preview section ahead of it all was the beautiful Ellen Welander, a local Irish dancer who was kind enough to pose for us during a video shoot recently. Through the magic of Photoshop, I changed Dave Shaughnessy's photos of Ellen to make her a redhead (a lifelong dream of hers, her dad tells me) and dyed her purple dress green to match our illustrated version, but her lovely smile is unchanged. So a shout out and a big thank you to Ellen for being such a good sport. And to think, she did it all while balancing on the back of a jittery cow.
Oh, and speaking of the Star...can you spot the Irish Fest celebrity lookalike?
