Staff Deluxe

Tomorrow night the KC Irish Fest staff will gather to officially wrap up a record breaking 2009. Part of the evening's agenda is our annual staff awards: MVP and Rookie Of The Year prizes for both men and women. Nominations were gathered last week and voting took place at our board meeting Monday morning and I'll tell you, it was no easy task. Because really, when you get right down to it none of those losers deserve awards.

Kidding. They're all great. I'd give them all big fat blue or possibly green ribbons and trophies if I could. Instead I'll use this space to officially thank all 40-some of the Irish Fest staff and the hundreds of volunteers for an absolutely stellar year. After a slow Friday night start we went on to post our best year ever and it's entirely because of the hard work of those wonderful, talented, good looking, pleasant smelling people.

If in the coming months you see somebody walking down the street wearing one of those grey Irish Fest Staff t-shirts, gold Site Host shirts or white volunteer shirts, give them a big hug and kiss, buy them a beer and thank them for providing Kansas City with its best annual event. Unless they bought the shirt used at the thrift store or something, in which case maybe don't.
