Not that I'm looking past this weekend, but on Monday you can mark your calendar for September 21st. That evening the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Irish Fest present Halfway To St. Patrick's Day out at the ballpark. The Elders will do a pregame show and perform the national anthem at the 7th inning stretch. I've heard their version and it's incredible. For new US citizen Ian Byrne especially, it should be a great moment.
And the first 20,000 fans will get a new cap. Because I'm, you know, kind of a big deal, I happen to have one on my noggin right now, three weeks before you get yours. Nyeh nyeh. Here's what it looks like:
And don't forget, baseball will be all over Irish Fest this weekend, with Royals' alumni, a heritage area exhibit and a special appearance by Red Sullivan, manager of the 1884 KC Cowboys. Here's what he looks like, handsome fella. Be sure to ask him for one of his baseball cards.
