Bar None

Last night we had the first of two training sessions for our volunteer beertenders. We've made a significant change in the beverage tents this year. Each tent will be manned and/or womanned by adult representatives of area Catholic grade schools. A portion of the proceeds of our sales go back to those very schools. Because as the products of local Catholic schools ourselves, we want to make sure those kids get a good education so they can make something of themselves and not end up running Irish festivals.

So what's a 21 and over fella have to do to get a drink at Irish Fest this year? It's easy. Right smack at the front gate stop and get your ID checked and get you one of them fancy bracelets. You won't get served without one. Next, look for one of the bright, beer colored banners flying high over our token tents. Jig on over there and get your weekend's worth of drink tokens. Tokens are sold in $2 increments. Remember, your money's no good at the beer tents. Only tokens will be accepted. Tokens mean no change, quicker transactions and shorter lines. If you have tokens left over from last year, they're still good.

Bright green tokens in hand, off you go to one of our many beverage tents where you'll be served by one of the aforementioned school moms and dads. If they're nice to you be sure to drop a tip in their jar. All those gratuities go directly to the schools.

Easy as pie and twice as tasty. Cold beer in your fist, time to plant that lawn chair and hear some music. It all kicks off a week from today.
