Guitarded

At our monthly Irish Fest committee meeting last night our newest staff member, 14 year old Tommy Regan, gave a preview of the Irish Guitar Hero game that you'll have a chance to play this Labor Day weekend. Tommy demonstrated, tearing through Pogey's "Halliday's Wedding" set on Expert level and not missing a note. And then Irish Fest president Ed Follis gamely picked up the axe. He didn't have it for long.

Tommy told me later that Ed probably would have failed a little less quickly "if he'd just set the guitar down on the table". If it's any consolation Ed, I'm worse at it than you are.

You'll be able to try your luck or show off your skill in just 42 days. The Irish Guitar Hero tent will be open until 9:00 PM every day.

Is there a custom song-list? I'm a little confused by this part: "the Irish Guitar Hero game", haha.

Here's the deal, Saturn. Our Emerging Technologies and Interactive Gaming Committee, which consists entirely of my 14 year old son Tom has charted, note by note on levels from easy to expert 7 different Irish rock songs, including one by 2008-2009 performers Pogey, and formatted them to be played ala the video game Guitar Hero. You'll pick your song, pick your level and shred away. It's absolutely free and there will be prizes to be won. I've tried it. I suck, but it's great. Tommy's done an absolutely amazing job. Hope we'll see you there.

Awesome, I can't wait to see it. It takes a lot of work to do something like that especially when it's custom-made.
