Home Stretch

81 days to go. On our website you'll find an up to date list of the great line up we've put together for you for 2009. The schedules for each stage are being assembled even as we speak and will be posted this week. Merchandise designs are due to our merch committee in the coming days. Heritage area displays are in the works. In short ladies and gents, at 81 days to go, we have officially entered The Home Stretch.

We're doing most of the work, but you're not off the hook either. Have you:
  • booked your hotel room?
  • signed up for a volunteer shift or three?
  • considered becoming a band sponsor?
What, you're not familiar with that last one? Let me explain. If you're a business owner or just a fan, you can share the stage with one of our great bands at this year's Kansas City Irish Fest. For a reasonable fee (contact Keli for rates) your name or your business's name is displayed on a big sign on stage behind your band during their performance and in our program, telling the assembled thousands that you care about music, culture and K.C.'s best festival. It's an inexpensive way for you to join the ranks of our great sponsors. And we love our sponsors. Check out that performer list and get in touch with Keli today to see if your favorite band has been spoken for yet. Top acts will go quickly.

You have your assignments now. Get to it.

No Gaelic Storm this year?!

No Gaelic Storm this year. Much as we love those guys and girl-and we do-we don't want to run the same line up out year after year. With the exception of some of our local favorites we like to maintain as close to possible a "two (years) on, one off" policy on bands. GS did a three years in a row stretch and we loved every minute of it, but we're giving them a little break this year and opening up stage spots to some other acts. Smart money has them returning in 2010.
