Back East

Honey, I'm home. After a refreshing stay in the cool mountains of southern Colorado (we were snowed on last Tuesday afternoon), I'm ready for these final 95 days 'til we swing open the big sparkly green gates of the 2009 Kansas City Irish Fest. Thanks to Barney and Ronan for taking the blog reins in my absence.

So Dugan the dog and I were out for a run this morning along the jogging trail near my house and we saw what I thought had to have been some sort of supermodel or movie star or former Irish Fest president or something. This person was positively radiant, resplendent even. What, I wondered, was this finely dressed fashion plate doing on a gravel trail at 6:30 in the morning dressed so elegantly? Was he on his way to an audience with the Pope or a state dinner or something? Then I realized: he was wearing a 2008 Irish Fest volunteer t-shirt. The kind you yourself might have gotten for free had you signed up for last year's festival. But this being America, you have a second chance. When you come to the KCIF table at this weekend's Browne's Irish Street Fair and sign up to work at the 2009 edition of Irish Fest, you can get, while they last, a 2008 volunteer shirt. Of course when you arrive to work your shift Labor Day weekend, you'll get that swanky new 2009 shirt too, the design for which is rattling around in my head like a BB in a coffee can right now. So that's 2 t-shirts for one 4 hour shift (multiple shifts are of course welcomed). Can life get any better? No.

So come see us Saturday. These '08 shirts are limited in number and size and won't last long so make us your first stop. Don't worry, they won't run out of beer.
