Burned And Blue

Those wacky Royals.

First of all, last night was great fun. Irish Festers Laren Mahoney, Liz O'Flaherty, Sarah Walsh and I signed up a passel of volunteers, gave away dozens of stickers and generally spread the good word about Irish Fest as part of the Royals' Tourism Night. We shared the long concourse with representatives of the Kansas City Zoo, Crown Center, the city of Independence, the Renaissance Festival and a bunch of other local attractions. And the boys in blue provided an incredible 9th inning come from behind walk off win to top it all off. We had some food, had a few beers, had some laughs and waved the Irish Fest flag proudly.

We had to be there to set up at 3:30 for a 7:05 game. And those zany Royals apparently thought it would be really funny to put the pale faced Irish Fest contingent right out beyond right field looking directly into the sun. The costumed Ren Festers were in the shade. The Harry Truman lookalike was in the shade. By the time the sun mercifully went down we looked like a quartet of of lobsters sitting there with our brochures and stickers. Ha ha, Royals. Good one.

ummm...as I said, "And the boys in blue provided an incredible 9th inning come from behind walk off win to top it all off." That would be the Royals.

So Danny my friend, did you drink any beer to numb the pain of the sunburn?
