It's been nice, hasn't it?
Have you noticed? It's, what the 15th of April today and I haven't bugged you yet at all about it, not for months, not this year, really. Lord knows I don't want to be a nag. Having said that...
Let's talk about volunteering.
Irish Fest as you're probably aware is almost completely volunteer staffed. As you're also probably aware, it's a huge undertaking. Think about this: You know when you're throwing a party? Having some people over for your husband's birthday or to celebrate his release from prison or whatever? You know the stress, the anxiety, the work and the planning that goes into pulling off that shindig for a couple dozen of your close friends and hubby's old cell mates? Okay, now change the guest list to include close to 100,000 people. Add 5 stages of entertainment. Oh, and just for good measure let's have it last 30 hours over three days, outdoors. That's what we do every year, in a nutshell. We throw the city's biggest party. And we need your help.
Over the next few days, I'll be getting you acquainted with the various areas of the festival that you might be interested in joining. We got a job for your exact interests and skill sets, I promise. And I also promise this: you'll have fun no matter where you work. The best people in the world work at Irish Fest. Shifts are short, benefits are long. But we'll get in to all that later. I only want to nag in small doses.
Speaking of which...taxes are due today, homey.
