A few images from this past weekend's conference...Ellis Island entertains and shows a little leg at Friday night's local and regional music showcase at Raglan Road.
Retired Irish Fester Ed Scanlon and his better half, Heritage area boss Barbara Scanlon share a single small beer with Milwaukee Irish Fest founder Ed Ward at the Boulevard Brewery on Saturday night, as Irish Fest director Mary Alice Beebe strolls by on her way to another grape juice. Such responsible behavior was the rule over the weekend.
Local boys The Elders show the assembled bigwigs why they're one of the hottest bands on the festival circuit at Saturday night's showcase.
Representatives of the Dublin (Ohio), Pittsburgh, Great American (New York) and Weston Irish Festivals prove my point about conference attendees only being distinguishable from supermodels by their lanyards.
There was business done. Really.
Association Of Irish Festivals and Events (AOIFE) executive director Colm Croffy flew in from Galway, only to have his conference get off to a rocky start as he was arrested by Jackson County sheriff Mike Sharp at the opening session. He was later released and instructed to avoid being Irish for the remainder of the weekend.Don't you hate it when somebody else wears the same outfit to an event? Kansas City Irish Fest's Barney Walsh and Milwaukee Irish Fest's Barry Stapleton die of embarrassment.
