This past Saturday, current and former directors of the Kansas City Irish Fest met at the home of founder and first president Bob Sullivan to map out and begin to define the long term future of the festival. To enhance our strengths, identify and shore up our weaknesses and build a foundation that will keep Irish Fest going for what we hope will be a long, long run. Led by strategic planner Amy Bailey, former directors Sullivan and Pat O'Neill, along with current boardies Barney Walsh, Laren Mahoney, Erin Kiekbusch, Davey Colgan, Ed Follis, Rory O'Connor, Carrie Slattery, Mary Alice Beebe, myself and E.D. Keli Wenzel spent the day in discussions and exercises that we hope will keep Irish Fest vibrant, innovative and successful for many years to come.
Seven hours of Irish Fest planning. On the coldest Saturday of the year. With no beer...okay, at least not until after 3:00, and even then only one or two. Now that's dedication. Hopefully you'll begin seeing the fruits of our labor in just 221 days.
