Fridays in the winter and spring mean band announcements. And here's a doozy.
Joining us for the first time at the Kansas City Irish Fest this year are the fantastic Makem and Spain Brothers. The Makem brothers, Shane, Conor and Rory are the sons of the late legendary Irish singer Tommy Makem. Joined by brothers Mickey and Liam Spain, they continue the great folk singing legacy of Tommy Makem and The Clancys. I saw this band of brothers at the Dublin Irish Festival last summer and was absolutely blown away. The phrase "wall of sound" comes to mind when describing what these men bring to the stage. They're funny, they're engaging and they can sing and harmonize like all get out. If you grew up with the great ballads of the Irish folk tradition as so many of us did, you'll want to start planning now for these shows.
Here's a taste.
