The celebrating of Irish New Year (at 6:00 pm Central time which is midnight Irish time) has become a big deal here in Kansas City in recent years, really taking off with the annual celebrations at the late, great Molloy Bros. Irish Pub which featured Eddie Delahunt. I mentioned Eddie Claus and his Irish New Year show at O'Dowd's Little Dublin here last week. Also ringing in 2009 at the same moment as Mullingar are the folks at Raglan Road.
Irish Fest performers Creel, featuring fiddle phenom Colin Farrell and dancer Danielle Fitzpatrick will be on stage for the Irish countdown, but if you've the stamina don't leave after that early toast. The kings of Irish Fest, The Elders will rocking out the old and in the new beginning at 10:30. Make a dinner reservation now and make a night of it.
