Did you see where Vice President-Elect Biden has been given the Secret Service code name "Celtic"? I wonder if they're pronouncing it correctly.
Anyway, that go me wondering: What should Irish Fest security call President Ed Scanlon and President-Elect Ed Follis? Any thoughts?

I'm thinking the Secret Service is pronouncing "Celtic" with a hard "C" because Jill Biden's codename is "Capri" which also has a hard "C".
Just like the entire OBama family have "R" names (Remegade, Renaissance,Radiance and Rosebud) the Bidens have to have similar-sounding codes.
I'm thinking really how effective are "secret" code names when everyone including random irish fest bloggers & blogettes know about them?? No offense Unca B.
None taken, Anon. But to be accurate, it's only the Service that's secret, not the code names obviously, since they're splashed all over the news. I'd imagine it's less about secrecy than it is for the sake of speed and efficiency, since say "Celtic" is way easier to say than "Vice President Elect Biden."

I can tell you from personal experience that if Nancy Pelosi has anything to do with it, they are pronouncing it with a soft "c"
