Hobnobbing

Later this week Kansas City Irish Fest entertainment genius Dave Shaughnessy and I will travel all the way to downtown Kansas City to attend the 21st Annual Midwest Arts Conference. There we'll meet and network with artists and agents and attend discussions and workshops on entertainment management and other important stuff. We'll also be seeing some music in performance showcases, some of which just might make it on to the Irish Fest stages in the future.

This conference, unlike the one we'll be hosting in April, isn't Hibernocentric if I might invent a word, so there aren't dozens of relevant performers for us to choose from. But there are a few we're excited about including Screaming Orphans, four Irish sisters who've relocated to New York and are getting a lot of buzz. Also on our list, Celtic Crossroads, Craicmore, Cara Dillon and reunions with our old friends from Beoga, Teada and Slide. Just as importantly, we'll have the opportunity to talk to agents representing all the top Celtic acts in the world and expand our radar screens a little as we begin booking for 2009.

We'll let you know what we dig up.

If you hear that Teada or Beoga are playing anywhere else this weekend, will you post the info? Pretty please?

Please consider Cara from Germany and Bodega from Scotland. I was just at the rain shortened Celtic Festival in Chicago this past weekend and saw both of them. They are fantastic and would be terrific at Kansas City next year.
Thanks

If y'all could get the Brock Maguire band, that would be great! They sound like Fuchsia with a fiddle.
