Happy Birthday Ed!

It's a big year for Ed Scanlon. His tenure on the Irish Fest board is coming to a close, as is his term as board president. And today Ed turns 60 years old.

I was going to sit here and make all kinds of fun of Ed for being such a geezer. I mean, sixty? That's pretty damn old, right? But you know who else turns 60 this year?

Alice Cooper. Steven Tyler. Ozzy Osbourne. Jackson Browne. Stevie Nicks...and she's still kind of hot.

So I've changed my mind. Sixty isn't old. Sixty isn't geezer. Sixty's rock star. And here at Irish Fest, there's no bigger rock star than Ed.

So happy birthday, old friend. Tonight, we'll gather and raise a jar or two and we'll toast a great man. A man whose talents have amazed us, whose hard work and dedication have inspired us, and who's made us all better people for having had him in the world for these past three score years.

Alice Cooper.

I hope I'm as frisky at 60 as Ed is. Breithlá shona duit Ed!

Happy birthday, Ed. Thanks (belatedly) for all of your last minute help in the Snug. We certainly could not have made it without you. You didn't seem 60 when you made that just under the wire dash to get that liquor permit! Here's hoping 60 is the best year yet.

Good God, is there a party? Maybe Barbara will help me to the car so I can go too. The bus from the nursing home does not run after 3PM

Just under the wire for the actual birthday day. It was a great party as always put on by the Scanlon's and if anyone is short of Irish whiskey it's all on the Scanlon's coffee table.

Happy birthday to a great buddy!
