One Big Happy Family

I was just in the drugstore around the corner from Castle Blogula and in walks a young woman in a 2006 Kansas City Irish Fest volunteer T-shirt. I was so excited that I gave her a big hug and paid for her purchases. Absolutely true story except for that hugging and paying part. But see, the larger point here is this: when you volunteer to work at Irish Fest you become part of a big Irish family and you'll get a cool free t-shirt like that young woman did, and you can wear it proudly for years to come. And when you do and I happen to see you in the CVS, I'll pay for your hair tonic and cotton balls and whatnot and give you a big hug. Even if it's only in my head.

Volunteer, right now.

Hey,
I still wear my 2007 volunteer t shirt with pride on the streets of London. Well, maybe not the streets. But when I need to pick up bags of soil from the garden centre, or paint the girls' bedroom. Anyway. You get the idea.

my 2006 Irish fest volunteer t-shirt is--well probably not anymore--sitting on a table in a pub in Newbridge. Seems I left that, and my "Marley & Me" book behind.
