Damo Friday

Yes, we're all out of band announcements for a Friday, please God, but let's talk a little about 2008 Kansas City Irish Fest performer Damien Dempsey, shall we? I want you people to know how huge this is that he's coming here. Massive, that's how.

Exhibit A: check out his on-line tour schedule. Want to see Dempsey in America this summer? Well, you can come to the Kansas City Irish Fest, or...you're S.O.L. my friend. Because we're the only North American stop listed as of now.

Exhibit 2: Yesterday I bought Damien Dempsey's new CD "The Rocky Road" on iTunes and except for during the Royals final game of their sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals (bless you, boys) I listened to it all day. Great stuff. It features the Dubliners backing Damo and it's his most traditional, roots disc yet. If you're on iTunes, it'll be the best $9.99 you'll spend today. If you only want to drop a buck, my pick is "Madam I'm A Darlin".

Exhibit C: Below you can see Damo playing "Schoolday's Over" with The Dubliners from that new disc. No, the Dubliners aren't coming with him to K.C. but his own band is and we're going to see a rare and a great show. Huge, I'm telling you. Mammoth. Ginormous.

Just 70 days from now.
