So listen, speaking of naming, as I was sitting there in the waiting room, I was visiting with my sister Carol. Carol - or Cee, as we call her - having moved to the our new Snug is in the process of turning over the reins of our Reunion Area over to a new Irish Fest staffer, the lovely and talented Brianna Boothe. Cee is turning over to Brianna a partially filled schedule of gatherings both corporate and family in the tents above the Terrace Stage.
As I've told you before, it's a lot of fun up there. Your own private tent, your own private bar, your own private...um...facilities. The only thing I don't like about it, I'll be honest with you, is what we call it. The Reunion Area.
Too limiting. Yes, we've had family reunions. But we've also had law firms up there. Construction companies. Birthday parties. Marriage proposals. I'm more than a little surprised we haven't had a wake yet. So here's your dual challenge for the day. One, put your group together and book your spot. Your book club? Your coven? Your bird watching chapter? Your Uncle Bloggy fan club? Think of the possibilities. Second, help Bri, Cee and me think of a new name for the joint. We can do better than Reunion Area.

Dublin Irish Festival has a similar 'area' but they have always just called it the "VIP area" which is NOT a good idea, IMHO.
"Gathering place" might be the operative phrase
to focus on.
The word "Ceili" is actually an 18th/19th century Gaelic
word meaning "a gathering" but to name an area "The Ceili"
might be a bit too confusing. People might think that's
just a dancing area, or something.
The Gaelic word "óenach" (Pronoucned OWN-nock) is also an
ancient word used to describe all different kinds of
"communal assembly" including sporting events, fairs,
liturgical assemblies or the coming together for the
inaguration of a new clan leader.

I don't think you should jump on the very first suggestion but "The Nock" really wouldn't be bad.
Loosely translated from Gaelic... 'oen' ( OWN ) means ONE and translation of 'ach' or 'ache' means
TOGETHER so the word 'oenach' meant
"ONE TOGETHER', which is exactly what the occasions were.
It was a time when clan chiefs would agreee to 'come together' to talk about things and not try to kill each other for a while.
So "The NOCK" would loosely mean, "The Together".
If you go with it, be prepared for the jokes, however... such as...
Nock, Nock.

No, dammit, he doesn't. His "working" name thus far has been "Cowboy" but I'm pretty sure that won't make the final cut.
People have been getting nocked at Irish Fest for years........or is that just me? I think it has something to do with stayin in that schmancy hotel.
