The 1st ever Kearney Irish Festival takes place this coming Saturday in the oddly named Jesse James Amphitheater in Kearney, just north of here.
Seriously, the Jesse James Amphitheater? Is it right near the Al Capone Shopping Center? Up the road from Charles Manson Elementary School? Across town from Jeffrey Dahmer Park? But I digress.
This inaugural event runs from 11:30 AM to 9:30 PM and features entertainment from Connie Dover, Bob Reeder, Tullamore and The Lucky Charms. In an innovative bit of marketing, admission pricing is by the carload. Takes me back to the days when we used to sneak people in to the drive-in movies in the trunk of whoever had their parent's car that weekend. Not that you should try that in Kearney. $30.00 per car minimum (up to 4 persons per car, and $7.50 for each additional person). This also includes pick-up trucks. Bus rates are available, too.
The weather should be beautiful and Kearney's close by. Check it out.

You sound a little bitter. Also noticed that none of the bands playing in Kearney are playing at the KCIF.
Bitter? Because I pointed out that it's odd, to put it mildly, to name a public performance facility after a murderer?
In case my focus on that bit of civic weirdness distracted from my main point, I'll restate it:
Kearney is holding their first ever Irish Festival on Saturday. They have a great line up. Prices are reasonable. You should go support it. I may be bitter occasionally Luke, but it has nothing whatsoever to do with this event, I promise.
Also, check your schedule. Bob Reeder is playing at KCIF.
When I read the title of this post, I thought it was a band announcement. Thank God it wasn't.
