A really great show last night by upcoming Irish Fester Damien Dempsey at the the Uptown Theater here in Kansas City. With just a second guitar backing his, he filled the theater with an amazingly big sound. What a voice. Sharp as razor, soaring to the rafters, all heavily accented by Northside Dublin. Irish Fest entertainment coordinator Dave Shaughnessy and I had a chance to meet him after the show and visit for a while, and he's a genuinely nice guy, too and seems to be looking forward to his return trip. You should be too. One of my favorite moments of the night: a guy in the crowd yelled out loudly a request for the song "Hold Me." Dempsey answered back "Hold you?? Eh...Maybe later."
Here's another preview of the great shows we have to look forward to at the other end of the summer.

If you missed him last night you can still see him, but you will have to travel...what a great show.
