Where To Volunteer, Part 11

So we're getting down to it, folks. Your choices are laid out before you like pints settling on the bar. I've done my part to give you the ups and downs of all our volunteer jobs. Now, you do yours. Sign up and join the Kansas City Irish Fest volunteer family today. And if you need one more option, here it is.

The CD Tent

Here's the situation: The Barra MacNeils have just finished a great set at Irish Fest. A brand new fan rushes to the CD tent, eager to buy a Barra's disc. New to the band, having just heard their first show they look to you, wise person standing behind the counter. The band's been recording for 20 years. They have a catalog of more than a dozen albums. They want to buy just one. "Hey, wise person" they ask, earnestly. "Which Barra MacNeils CD should I buy?" And you say...?

Now, I'm not saying you have to know that right this minute. I'm not saying that every volunteer in the CD tents needs to be a walking encyclopedia of Irish music. But what makes a great CD tent volunteer is a passion for the music we put on stage. An eagerness to share that passion with our patrons. A willingness to maybe do a little homework. And hey, if you happen to be a walking encyclopedia of Irish music, well, all the better. Most people will make up their own minds, and we do have a buyers guide at each CD tent containing our music master Dave Shaughnessy's picks for each band's best work. But if you're not really into the music, look to Where to Volunteers 1-10 for your best spot.

Sign up. Today's the day. You're the person. This is the festival.
