So yesterday as I was running at breakneck speed down Brookside Boulevard in the Trolley Run 4 mile charity race, I came to the spot where helpful volunteers hand cups of water to the runners. And who should be there to offer cool refreshment than Kansas City Irish Fest recycling Empress Natalie Smith. Proof once again that Irish Fest staff and volunteers are a generous, involved, caring group of people who will do whatever it takes to make our city a better place to live, as long as we get a free t-shirt out of the deal.
Thanks for the aqua, Nat. It was just what I needed to power on the last two miles to a 3,437th place finish (estimated).

Did you bow/kneel to the Empress?
But of course. And I was bowing to her, not heaving and trying to catch my breath after reaching the halfway point in the race. I don't care what anybody says.
